Emergency Communications is a Commitment!

District 10 Training Standard (Effective July 16, 2011) - All registered ARES volunteers in Tenth District are required to complete the following FEMA training:  IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.

Frequently Asked Questions.

1.  Why the training standard?  Our primary customers are served agencies.  Many served agencies are requiring volunteers to complete certain FEMA training.  Therefore, the district has implemented the training standard to better serve our customers.

2.  Am I kicked out of ARES if I do not complete the training?  Absolutely not.  Every volunteer is important to us regardless if you are trained or not.  Just be mindful that you may not be stationed in a location that requires training.

3.   I have completed the training.  Now what?  Be sure you send a copy of your completion certificate to your Emergency Coordinator and the District Training Officer.  If you do not have your certificates for one reason or another, you may ask FEMA for a transcript.

In Tenth District, there are three types of training.  The first is FEMA ICS and NIMS training courses.  These highly recommended online courses are free from FEMA at THIS LINK.  When you complete the course, an email will be sent to you containing your certificate.  NOTE:  Some counties are requiring FEMA courses before volunteers can provide mutual aid for them.
